]]> Germany is to ban large events until the end of this year, amid fears of a resurgence in coronavirus cases and as the World Health Organization warned that Europe was entering “a tricky moment” as children go back to school.

The chancellor, Angela Merkel, has set out a new package of measures in discussions with leaders of federal states. It comes amid a worrying rise of infection rates in Germany not seen since April, and a similar uptick in Italy and France.

]]> France is now allowing indoor gigs and events with under 5,000 people in attendance to go ahead without social distancing measures in place, said France’s Prime Minister Jean Castex in a recent interview with France Inter.

The only exception is départements designated as ‘red-zones’ where cases are spiking, including cities such as Paris, Lyon, and the Bouches-du-Rhône and Gironde areas where Marseille and Bordeaux respectively are located.

The company is also imposing a maximum limit of 16 guests allowed to stay in accommodation, with a few exceptions for some residences such as boutique hotels. It will also trial a ban on under-25s with under three positive ratings renting full homes close to where they live.

]]> Italy has recorded more than 1,000 new coronavirus infections in a single day for the first time since May 12. On Saturday the country’s health ministry announced there had been 1,071 new cases in the past 24 hours. Peru’s public prosecutor said 11 of the revellers who were crushed to death or suffocated were tested posthumously and came back positive. In a statement President Martín Vizcarra added 15 of the 23 people police detained while breaking up the event also tested positive.

Luckily for the fans of Taiwanese singer-songwriter Eric Chou, they were given the opportunity to attend his two concerts on August 8 and 9 at the Taipei Arena, which has a maximum capacity of 13,000. He has also announced two more shows at Kaohsiung Arena, which has a capacity of 15,000. If COVID has trained you well, your first instinct looking at a crowd number like that should probably be fear.
