France is now allowing indoor gigs and events with under 5,000 people in attendance to go ahead without social distancing measures in place, said France’s Prime Minister Jean Castex in a recent interview with France Inter.

The only exception is départements designated as ‘red-zones’ where cases are spiking, including cities such as Paris, Lyon, and the Bouches-du-Rhône and Gironde areas where Marseille and Bordeaux respectively are located.

Originally published in The Guardian, Rob Davies examines how in the UK dancing in face masks, temperature checks at the door and bouncers patrolling the dance floor to enforce social distancing could be the future of clubbing during a pandemic, according to plans put forward by venues desperate to reopen.

Nightclub owners have warned they face imminent “financial armageddon”, putting more than 750,000 jobs at risk, unless the government provides them with support or greater certainty about when they can reopen.

It’s been a long and lonely time since the last live show you’ve been to, probably, and hopefully (for your health and safety). Luckily for the fans of Taiwanese singer-songwriter Eric Chou, they were given the opportunity to attend his two concerts on August 8 and 9 at the Taipei Arena, which has a maximum capacity of 13,000. He has also announced two more shows at Kaohsiung Arena, which has a capacity of 15,000. If COVID has trained you well, your first instinct looking at a crowd number like that should probably be fear.

The Metropolitan Police have vowed to crack down on illegal parties across the capital, as COVID-19 restrictions mean nightclubs are still closed. Over 1000 unlicensed parties have taken place in London since June and a senior Metropolitan Police officer, Commander Ade Adelekan, has said the Met will come down hard on any illegal events.
